The foreign minister of Oman announced that a scheduled meeting of the states on the Persian Gulf was postponed for this Monday. "In the interest of consensus, the regional meeting originally planned for tomorrow in Salalah has been rescheduled," Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi stated on the X platform late in the evening.

According to reports, the original plan was for Iran and Oman to present an agreement in the long-standing conflict over the Strait of Hormuz. They continue to advocate for "a dialogue that promotes stability and long-term cooperation" in the region. He did not provide further details on the reasons and a new date for a meeting.

A response from Tehran or from the participating Gulf states was not available at first. The other Gulf states were merely invited to be informed about the details of the agreement, the Iranian news agency Mehr reported. The island nation Bahrain, which had been subject to massive Iranian rocket attacks in the war, had already announced its intention to boycott the meeting earlier.

Even the well-informed web portal "amwaj" reported prior to the meeting about tensions among the invited states. The United Arab Emirates, for example, does not intend to send its Foreign Minister, but only a state secretary. The Strait of Hormuz has become the central dispute between Tehran and Washington during the Iran War. Before the war, about one fifth of the world's oil supply passed through the strait.

Oil gas and fertilizer from the Gulf states are also exported via the route. The restrictions are putting the global economy under pressure and putting pressure on US President Donald Trump.
