India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the Women's Asia Cup 2026 final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Sree Charani's left-arm spinners claimed four vital wickets for India, restricting Sri Lanka to 183 for five. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana combined brilliantly to post 102 runs for the fourth wicket in just 38 balls.

Shafali smashed 24-ball fifty, the fastest in Women's Asia Cup history, while Mandhana scored 36. India reached 183 after 20 overs, with Mandhana and Shafali accounting for 129 runs between them. Shafali targeted Sri Lanka's skipper Chamari Athapaththu early on, hitting her for three successive boundaries. However, Mandhana's partnership with Shafali was disrupted when Shafali was caught by Athapaththu off Praboda's delivery. India managed just 43 runs in their last five overs despite Richa Ghosh's 17 runs off 13 balls.
