I’m really proud of Aina –Glasner

Nottingham Forest's manager, Oliver Glasner, shared the story behind his decision to bring on Super Eagles' defender, Ola Aina, as a centre-back for the club’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park. This win marked Forest’s first Premier League triumph of the season. Glasner explained that he approached Aina with the proposal after receiving confirmation of injuries to the club’s regular central defenders on the evening before the match.

Glasner informed Aina and his fellow defender, Ousmane Diomande, of the change and specifically questioned Aina on his ability to adapt to the new role. Aina responded positively, expressing his belief in his capacity to succeed. During the game, Aina's performance proved his confidence, as he recorded three tackles, one interception, four clearances, and two recoveries while playing as the left-sided centre-back in a back three formation.
