I ran 40 miles in the Saucony Triumph 24 and it’s a return to form for the popular cushioned running shoe

The Saucony Triumph line of running shoes holds a special place in the author's heart, as it was their go-to shoe when they first began running around 11 years ago. However, recent iterations of the Triumph fell short of delivering the energetic and engaging feel they desired. In response, Saucony released the Saucony Triumph 24, which introduced a new midsole foam called IncrediLUX, resulting in a more lively and enjoyable running experience compared to its predecessors, the Triumph 22 and 23.

Despite not being as soft and springy as other models, such as the Nike Vomero Plus or Hoka Clifton Pro, the Triumph 24 remains an excellent choice for daily training and caters to a wide range of runners. Priced at $170 in the U.S. and £170 in the U.K., the shoe is competitively priced alongside other cushioned favorites, like the Asics Gel-Nimbus 28, Hoka Clifton Pro, and Nike Vomero Plus.

The Triumph 24 is available in 10 men's colors and 14 women's colors, with additional wide and GTX waterproof options. The shoe features a mesh upper with padding on the tongue and collar, an internal heel counter, and maintains the same 10mm drop as previous models. The midsole is the most significant upgrade, now made from a lighter and softer TPU foam called IncrediLUX, providing enhanced energy return and a more comfortable ride compared to previous versions.

The outsole utilizes Saucony's XT-900 carbon rubber, offering good grip and durability on the main impact areas. During marathon training, the author tested the Triumph 24, finding it to be their best-performing model yet, thanks to the IncrediLUX midsole. While it may not be ideal for speedwork, the Triumph 24 excels in providing a comfortable and balanced ride for easy, steady training runs.
