Hormuz hit, Houthi takeover fuel fresh tensions

A vessel was struck in the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions in the region continue to rise despite calls for restraint. The United Kingdom's Maritime Trade Operations have advised caution and reported activity monitoring. Iran and Oman have agreed on new entry and exit routes for the Strait, to be briefed at a Muscat meeting. Yemen's Houthis, backed by Iran, have seized ports and targeted Saudi Arabia.

A Houthi strike in Saudi Arabia's Sharurah region injured two people. Houthis' capture of Mokha has been praised in Iran, amid their conflict with the US and Israel. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has asked Trump for military action against the Houthis, but reportedly declined. BRICS nations have expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions and urge peace, restraint, and protection of civilians.
