Hammond throws the go-ahead touchdown and No. 13 Texas Tech downs Oregon State 35-24

Will Hammond connected Coy Eakin with a 32-yard touchdown pass with just 6:31 remaining, giving Texas Tech the lead in their Saturday night game against Oregon State. The No. 13 Red Raiders ultimately prevailed with a 35-24 comeback victory over the resilient Beavers. J’Koby Williams rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown for Texas Tech, who trailed by 24-21 in the fourth quarter.

Oregon State managed only 26 rushing yards and quarterback Braden Atkinson completed 399 yards and scored two touchdowns. Jesse Legree contributed with eight passes for 240 yards and two scores. The last time an Oregon State receiver amassed over 200 receiving yards at home was back in 2003. Texas Tech entered the game as 26.5-point favorites, but fell a spot in the rankings after the win.

Hammond, in his first season as a full-time starter after Brendan Sorsby's departure due to a gambling scandal, completed 189 yards and a touchdown. Oregon State began the game with a 33-20 defeat to Houston, another ranked Big 12 squad.
