Gladbach sack coach Polanski after losing Bundesliga start

Borussia Moenchengladbach have dismissed coach Eugen Polanski following a disappointing start to the Bundesliga season, marked by three consecutive defeats. The German club confirmed Polanski's departure a day after their 5-0 loss to Freiburg, which left the team at the bottom of the table. Polanski, a former prominent Gladbach player, assumed the role in September 2025.

According to a statement from Gladbach's Head of Sports Rouven Schroeder, the club's recent performances fell short of expectations despite a promising pre-season. The team's poor results led to the decision to relieve Polanski of his duties immediately. The club now faces the challenge of securing a positive outcome following their opening match against RB Leipzig, which they lost 3-0.

Subsequently, a 4-3 defeat to Elversberg further compounded their struggles. Interim coach Jan-Moritz Lichte, previously at Mainz 05, will oversee the team during this transitional period.
