Georgia Tech defensive back Jaylen Mbakwe released from hospital following scary collision in loss

Georgia Tech's Jaylen Mbakwe has been released from Grady Hospital after being treated for injuries sustained during a game against No. 18 Tennessee, the university announced on Sunday. The defensive back's third-quarter collision with a teammate prompted precautionary observation and his subsequent transfer to the hospital. Coach Brent Key stated that Mbakwe was conscious and responsive during the incident, which occurred when he collided headfirst with another player's knee.

The injury left Mbakwe motionless on the field for several minutes before he gave a thumbs-up signal while being removed on a stretcher. Mbakwe, a transfer from Alabama, made his first appearance for Georgia Tech this season after contributing in 22 games over two previous seasons as a cornerback, wide receiver, and punt returner.
