Ganeshotsav Rush On Konkan Routes: Panvel RTO Urges Motorists To Use Black Spot App

As millions of devotees and workers prepare to journey to the Konkan region for Ganeshotsav, the Panvel Regional Transport Office (RTO) has called upon drivers to utilize its “Black Spot RTO Panvel” mobile app to receive early alerts regarding hazardous stretches and other dangerous locations. Traffic is anticipated to intensify on the Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Goa highways, along with other routes leading to Konkan during the festival.

To encourage drivers to identify risky areas before embarking on their trip and to exercise extra caution while approaching them, the RTO has initiated a public awareness campaign. The app offers details about pinpointed accident-prone areas, perilous curves, and potentially hazardous sections, while also alerting motorists as they near a black spot, permitting them to decelerate and take necessary precautions, according to officials.

The “Black Spot RTO Panvel” app is accessible free of charge on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The RTO has urged motorists to download the application prior to commencing their journey and to employ it while en route. Moreover, the department has implored motorists to abide by speed limits, evade hazardous overtaking, wear seat belts, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Those experiencing fatigue or drowsiness have been advised to pull over to a secure location and resume their journey only after obtaining adequate rest. The road safety initiative has also been extended to the Panvel Municipal Corporation area, where garbage collection vehicles are being employed to raise awareness among motorists and residents ahead of Ganeshotsav.

The Panvel RTO and Raigad district administration are additionally leveraging 98.3 FM to urge Ganesh devotees and travelers to the Konkan to follow traffic rules and exercise caution on highways during the festival.
