Fuel relief scheme: How to get Rs100/litre petrol subsidy?

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has introduced a special fuel relief scheme to alleviate the financial burden on motorcycle, rickshaw, Qingqi, and small-car owners due to a rise in global oil prices caused by Middle East tensions. Under this scheme, eligible users can receive a Rs100-per-litre relief for up to 20 litres of petrol monthly, saving up to Rs2,000, or up to 30 litres for small cars with engines up to 800cc, saving up to Rs3,000.

Eligibility includes motorcycle and rickshaw riders, as well as owners of small cars like Suzuki Mehran, Alto, and Bolan. Applicants must provide a valid CNIC, a SIM registered in their name, and verify their vehicle registration through the provincial Excise Department records. Registration is done via SMS with the format: REG CNIC Plate No Province Code Registration Date.

Province codes include I for Islamabad, A for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, G for Gilgit-Baltistan, S for Sindh, P for Punjab, K for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and B for Balochistan.

Upon successful registration, applicants will receive a confirmation message and a token via SMS (TOK to 9771). This token must be shown at petrol stations to obtain the subsidised petrol. The scheme will commence in Islamabad from midnight between September 14 and 15, followed by nationwide rollout from midnight between September 16 and 17. Registration opened on Sunday, with further details to be communicated through an awareness campaign.
