The Indian Women's Cricket Team concluded an outstanding campaign to clinch the Women's Asia Cup 2026 for their record eighth title after defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final held in Dubai. This victory marked their redemption from their loss to Sri Lanka in the 2024 final.

India commenced their campaign with an impressive 94-run win over Thailand. They posted a total of 159/9, which Thailand could only reply with 65 runs, failing to reach the required total. The team then went on to dominate against Hong Kong, China, by a massive 137-run margin after setting up 193/5.

Their biggest group-stage encounter came against Pakistan on September 5. India forced Pakistan to score only 55 runs and followed up with a victory by seven wickets after chasing the target in 8.4 overs. With three wins in their opening three matches, India topped Group A and entered the semi-finals unbeaten.

In the semi-final match against Bangladesh, India faced a tough challenge. Shafali Verma scored a swift 64 runs, while the bowlers kept Bangladesh in check. India triumphed by 40 runs, scoring 149/6 while restricting Bangladesh to 109/7, securing their place in the final.

The final was a masterclass in cricket. Shafali and Smriti Mandhana started the innings with a brilliant 129-run opening partnership. Shafali's 68 runs off just 39 balls, including the fastest fifty in Women's Asia Cup history, was pivotal as she played a crucial role in India's 183/5 total. Sri Lanka's bowlers struggled to contain India and they were restricted to a paltry 111, resulting in a massive 72-run victory for India and the Women's Asia Cup trophy.
