Five arrested as Police rescue kidnapped Cape Town e-hailing driver

Police in Cape Town have apprehended five individuals, including two women and a teenager, in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a 25-year-old e-hailing driver. The suspects allegedly held the victim captive, subjected him to sexual assault, and demanded a ransom from his family before the arrival of law enforcement. The group consisted of two women aged 23 and 34, two men aged 42 and 48, and a 16-year-old minor.

All five are set to face charges of rape and extortion, with their first appearance in Wynberg Magistrate’s Court scheduled for Monday. The victim’s brother alerted authorities to the kidnapping, as the suspects had contacted him demanding R4000 in exchange for the release of their captive. Police located the victim using his vehicle tracker, discovering him at Southampton Road in Heathfield, where the rescue operation was conducted.
