Fisherman missing after falling into sea near Pulau Batu Layang found dead

Kangar, September 13 — The body of a fisherman, Khairul Amir Bahroom, 33, who fell into the sea near Pulau Batu Layang, Sungai Baru, was discovered approximately 400 meters away from the island today. The victim had gone missing around 3:30 am yesterday while fishing with his elder brother. Malaysia's Kuala Perlis Maritime Zone Director, Commander Nak Rong A/L Si Prom, stated that the body was found by local fishermen, and this information was relayed to the search and rescue operation team this morning.

According to Commander Nak Rong, the search and rescue team received a notification from the fishing community about the discovery of a body situated around 400 meters from Pulau Batu Layang. Upon receiving this report, Bot Benteng 1207 retrieved the body and transported it to the Kuala Perlis Customs Jetty before handing it over to the police for further investigation.

Kangar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop, confirmed that the body would be transported to the Forensic Unit of Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) for a post-mortem examination.
