Finished with Michigan State, G Trey Augustine ready for new lessons

Detroit Red Wings prospect goaltender Trey Augustine earned praise after helping his team force overtime in a recent prospect tournament game against Dallas Stars prospects. The game concluded with an eight-round shootout, during which Kienen Draper, Augustine's teammate, took charge and delivered the decisive save. Draper's father, former Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup champion and current assistant general manager Kris Draper, commended his son's performance.

Augustine, a former Michigan State star, finished the game with 26 saves. Grand Rapids Griffins coach Dan Watson highlighted Augustine's excellent performance, noting his smart play and ability to shut down scoring chances. This tournament serves as a valuable warm-up event for the Wings' opening of their main training camp, which begins on September 17.

Augustine, 21, signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Wings and is set to join their AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids for the upcoming season. As he prepares for his professional debut, Augustine faces the challenge of adapting to a more intense training regimen and managing increased competition for playing time.
