FCS-member Montana State wins 17th straight game, knocks off Nevada 17-7

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Justin Lamson engineered a touchdown pass and Adam Jones sprinted for another in the first half, as Montana State's Bobcats trounced Nevada 20-7 on Saturday night. This victory extended the program's longest winning streak to 17 games. Justin Lamson completed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Dane Steel to cap a seven-play, 75-yard opening drive.

Myles Sansted netted a 45-yard field goal in the first quarter, and Jones added a 6-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to put the Bobcats ahead 17-0 at the break. Nevada (1-1) pushed deep into Montana State territory twice in the first half, but both drives were halted by Luke Duncan interceptions. In the second half, AJ Bianco replaced Duncan and connected with Marshaun Brown for a 28-yard touchdown pass with 11:38 left on the clock.

Sansted sealed the win with a 29-yard field goal with 1:10 remaining. Montana State (3-0), currently ranked No. 1 in the FCS Stats Perform poll, holds the second-longest winning streak in Division I, trailing only Indiana's 18-game streak. Justin Lamson completed 15-of-23 passes for 179 yards, while Jones amassed 86 yards rushing on 25 carries.

Luke Duncan and AJ Bianco combined for 19 of 36 passing for 167 yards and three interceptions. Dominic Kelley contributed 73 of his 84 yards on the ground for Nevada.
