EPL: Michael Owen reacts to Phil Foden’s red card in Man United vs Man City

Former Manchester United player Michael Owen has harshly criticized referee Mark Oliver's decision to send off Manchester City forward Phil Foden with a red card during Sunday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford. Foden received the dismissal for retaliating against Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who had kicked Foden's backside initially.

Owen, who also played for Liverpool, was a pundit on Premier League Productions and found the decision to be unjust. "Trust me, it’s one of those red cards that just doesn’t sit nicely. It’s such a big game. There’s so much on it. People are going to take advantage of any little bit that they can get, and that’s what Manchester United fans and the players have done here," Owen stated.

He also questioned the referee's decision not to show a yellow card to Bruno Fernandes for kicking Foden, saying, "How come there’s no yellow for Bruno? Well, I mean he intentionally kicks Foden, I think you should get a yellow card for that."
