Emirates Development Bank reaches Dh30 billion in financing approvals for industrial businesses

Abu Dhabi's Emirates Development Bank (EDB) has approved over Dh30 billion in financing for industrial businesses since 2021, reaching a significant milestone in its five-year mandate. Ahmed Mohamed Al Naqbi, CEO of EDB, emphasized the bank's confidence in partnering with businesses for growth and industrial development. The bank's focus lies in funding projects that increase productive capacity, enhance local value chains, and enable UAE-based enterprises to compete both domestically and internationally.

EDB's support has been instrumental in financing over 1,000 companies across five strategic sectors: manufacturing, renewable energy, advanced technology, healthcare, and food security. Manufacturing, the largest recipient of EDB financing, has played a crucial role in strengthening the UAE's industrial base and aligning with national industrial development plans.

EDB's impact data reveals that its financing has contributed more than Dh14 billion to industrial GDP, supported more than 50,000 industrial jobs, and mobilized approximately Dh70 billion in industrial capital expenditure. Moreover, EDB-supported businesses have attracted over Dh9 billion in foreign investment, facilitating the establishment and expansion of industrial and advanced-production enterprises in the UAE. As Abu Dhabi's economy grew by 3.8% in Q2 2025, the non-oil sector achieved a record high.
