Driver's licence suspended after sedan's double-parking blocks emergency fire truck

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the Philippines has suspended the driver's license and issued a show cause order to the owner of a black sedan after it blocked a responding fire truck. The incident, captured on video and brought to the LTO's attention, occurred on a narrow road. When the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) truck attempted to pass the sedan, it was unable to maneuver and struck the car's door, causing delays in the fire truck's response.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao ordered the driver and owner to explain their actions and appeared set to revoke the driver's license if deemed an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. The sedan was also placed under alarm status, and the driver has been ordered to surrender his license for a 90-day preventive suspension.

Lacanilao emphasized the importance of avoiding road obstructions, especially when emergency vehicles are responding, and appealed for discipline on the road.
