According to Blizzard's official blog, Sanctuary is not waiting for the apocalypse, but is already in the midst of one, a haunting and desolate land shaped by despair, resilience, and the few survivors fighting for survival. This bleak setting is a continuation of the dark atmosphere established in Diablo 4, setting the stage for a compelling and deeply compelling experience when Diablo 5 releases in Spring 2029.
