Critics celebrate Céline Dion’s ‘high-stakes’ comeback show in Paris

Canadian pop sensation Céline Dion officially launched her highly anticipated comeback tour in Paris on Saturday, following a six-year absence due to health troubles. The 58-year-old global superstar, who suffers from a rare neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome, has not performed a full concert since a 2020 show in New Jersey.

At the Paris La Défense Arena, Dion kicked off a 26-show residency, marking the first time she has graced the stage since her brief appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony. In her emotional return, Dion pledged to the roaring crowd that she was "coming back to be back on stage, singing for me," adding, "I am everything I am because you loved me."

Throughout the night, the 58-year-old singer broke down in tears multiple times, visibly overwhelmed by the warm reception. Dion's performance was described as "a tense, tearful, joyous affair" by The Telegraph's Neil McCormick, noting that the star appeared "to be having the time of her life" as she gyrated and smiled while performing.

The concert, teeming with visual interludes featuring biblical imagery, showcased Dion's signature power ballads like My Heart Will Go On and Because You Loved Me.
