CPI(M) Keralam State committee to directly address local organisational issues

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State committee in Kerala has declared that it will take direct action to resolve local organizational problems. This statement was made by M.V. Govindan, who is the State secretary of the party, during a media briefing on the sidelines of a three-day extended State committee meeting in Kozhikode on September 13, 2026.

Govindan highlighted that the district and area committees were encountering various regional issues. Rather than leaving the district committees to find solutions on their own, the State leadership intends to intervene and address these problems. The State committee will review every three months, or at least every six months, to ensure that corrective measures are being effectively implemented.

The leader emphasized the necessity to alter the behavior, conversational style, and functioning of certain sections of leaders. Additionally, the party aims to expand its influence in emerging social groups. He revealed that the extended meeting was convened to discuss shortcomings identified in review reports of the Central committee and the State committee regarding the CPI(M)'s poor performance in the Assembly polls in Kerala. The aim was to propose corrective steps to rejuvenate the organization.

Govindan also expressed concern about the efforts by communal and right-wing forces to establish a presence in Kerala. He stressed that it was the responsibility of the CPI(M) to prevent these groups from gaining ground. Furthermore, he accused those attempting to implicate the Leader of the Opposition and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan in corruption cases as an attempt to launch an attack on the party.
