Cooke throws 3 TD passes to help Idaho State cruise past San Diego 59-17

Jordan Cooke's arm was the primary weapon for Idaho State as they dominated San Diego 59-17 in their first meeting since 1958. The Idaho State quarterback connected for a total of 331 yards and three touchdowns under center. Cooke's precision was on full display with his 74-yard touchdown pass to Chedon James late in the first quarter setting the tone.

He then added another 79-yard touchdown strike to Zedekiah Anahu-Ambrosio that further expanded the Bengals' lead to 45-10 early in the fourth quarter. Cooke's performance was nothing short of spectacular as he finished 15-of-26 passing without a single interception for the Bengals (3-0). The Idaho State backup quarterback, Davis Harsin, added to the offensive firepower with 3-of-3 passing for 113 yards, including a 90-yard touchdown to Anahu-Ambrosio.

Harsin also contributed on the ground with a 4-yard touchdown run. Anahu-Ambrosio proved to be a versatile threat in the passing game, finishing the day with an impressive 195 receiving yards on three catches. Tytan Mason was instrumental on the ground, accumulating 60 of the Bengals' 178 rushing yards, including a 21-yard touchdown run.

Despite the lopsided victory, San Diego's Dom Nankil completed 11 of 22 passes for 113 yards with two interceptions. One of those picks was returned 28 yards for a touchdown by Collin Lewis early in the third quarter, marking just the second time these teams faced off, and the first since 1958 when the Toreros secured a 24-0 win in San Diego. Idaho State will next take on Southern Utah on September 26th.
