Boston’s Willson Contreras activated from injured list as Anthony Seigler goes on IL

Boston Red Sox activated first baseman Willson Contreras from the 10-day injured list on Sunday, setting him to bat cleanup in their series finale against the Kansas City Royals. Contreras, 34, had been sidelined since August 31 due to a strained left hamstring. Prior to his injury, he led the team with 26 home runs and 79 RBIs, posting a .274 average. Contreras spent two rehab games with Double-A Portland, batting 2-for-7 with two RBIs.

Anthony Seigler, the team's outfielder, was placed on the 10-day injured list with right wrist inflammation. The injury occurred during a swing in Saturday's 5-1 victory over the Royals.
