(Asiad) N. Korea to begin Asian Games campaign with women's football match

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is contemplating a special incentive for athletes in anticipation of Malaysia securing its first Asian Games badminton gold medal since 2006. Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, the men's doubles pair responsible for Malaysia's last gold at the Asian Games in Qatar, won the title in 2006. BAM president Tengku Zafrul Aziz admitted that the absence of a badminton gold medal at the Asian Games has been a prolonged wait for Malaysian sports enthusiasts.

Twenty years have passed since the last victory. BAM president Tengku Zafrul Aziz hinted that the proposal for a special incentive, in addition to the government's national sports incentive scheme, would be assessed based on the association's financial capacity and support from its sponsors. Discussions with BAM's sponsors, who typically provide incentives, are also being considered.
