Anwar surprises diplomats with Bollywood performance [WATCH]

During his official visit to India for the BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim surprised diplomats with a performance of a classic Bollywood song. Accompanied by a pianist, Anwar, wearing a pianist on a hotel in New Delhi, sang the song with both hands raised in the air. The song, titled "Teen Deviyan," written by lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri and sung by Kishore Kumar in the 1965 Bollywood film, explored the wonder and uncertainty of falling in love and is considered a classic of Hindi cinema's golden era.

The performance, which showcased Anwar's long-standing appreciation for Hindi cinema and music, was shared on his official X account (formerly Twitter) with the caption "Guru minta izin nyanyi kejap ok!" (Teacher, requesting permission to sing for a bit!). This was not Anwar's first performance of the song in India, as he had done so during his 2024 visit as well.

Anwar, known to be a fan of the late Indian playback legend Lata Mangeshkar, whose voice became closely associated with Hindi cinema's romantic songs, shared a glimpse into his longstanding admiration for Hindi cinema and its music during his diplomatic engagements with India.
