Akmal guna ‘prinsip’ seperti senjata politik, kata penganalisis

Dr. Akmal Saleh, the Head of Umno Youth, claims that questions should be directed towards the PKR if the transition from Umno to PAS. In an interview with FMT, political analyst Ahmad Zaharuddin Sani Ahmad Sabri stated that while Akmal has the right to criticize the government, he lacks credibility to use the principle argument to reject Pakatan Harapan and DAP.

If Umno's principle is not to cooperate with DAP, why is Umno still in federal government with DAP as one of the component parties? At a meeting on Thursday, Akmal accused the PKR of frequently testing Umno. Therefore, when asked why Umno switched to PAS, he advised questioning PKR about why they made Umno choose between power and principle.

According to Azmi Hassan from Nusantara Academy, Akmal perceives cooperation with PAS as a political choice and not merely an issue of loyalty to the kings of Malaya. Azmi added that Akmal and Pemuda Umno are presenting cooperation with PAS as a political choice, even though the party's highest leadership and top leadership have not yet made a final decision.

Azmi believes Akmal's narrative also tries to imply that Umno's hands are tied due to the fundamental principles of the government driven by PM Anwar Ibrahim, even though Umno is part of the ruling party. Zaharuddin noted that this is where Akmal's claim about principle becomes problematic, as compromise in a coalition government does not always mean abandoning principle.

Principle, when used only to measure opponents, is not a principle but a political weapon. He adds that the difference between Akmal's stance on DAP in Melaka and Umno's position in Putrajaya needs to be clarified if Umno wants to receive the argument based on principle. If the difference is a political strategy, then say so.
