A laid-off Grubhub worker created a tracker to help others find jobs. 18 months later, recruiters are learning from it.

Irvin Thevaranjan, a former Grubhub employee, created a tracker to help other laid-off workers find new jobs. After experiencing his own layoff, Thevaranjan took it upon himself to build a community to assist his coworkers navigate the aftermath. The tracker, known as the Ex-Grubhub Talent Network, has listed 326 laid-off alumni looking for work since February 2025.

Most of these individuals have since found new jobs. The network includes a Slack workspace where workers can commiserate, share open roles, and discuss personal interests. Thevaranjan, who drew on his auditing skills to create the list of laid-off employees, initially promoted the network through LinkedIn posts. The network has become a grassroots effort to provide support that is often lacking after a layoff, according to former Grubhub employees and others who have interacted with it.
