The third week of the 2026 Texas high school football season featured several remarkable performances by Big Country's top high school football teams. Several standout players shined brightly throughout the Abilene area during this weekend's games. Tristan Beal from Abilene High led the pack with his outstanding performance against Odessa Permian. Despite a tough 41-29 loss, Beal threw for an impressive 269 yards and four touchdowns on 15-of-26 passing for the Eagles. Keegan Hayes of Gordon High also had an exceptional night, contributing to their 46-28 victory over Strawn.

Hayes accounted for a total of four touchdowns, including a crucial interception that helped the Longhorns secure their win. John Rangel from Abilene High was another standout player, delivering a phenomenal performance in their 41-29 loss to Odessa Permian. Rangel scored on both a 53-yard and 41-yard touchdown runs, adding 204 receiving yards and two more touchdowns to his impressive tally.
