Umno-PAS plan million-strong Muslim unity rally

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that Umno and PAS are collaborating on plans to organize a rally that would gather one million Muslims. The proposal was initiated by PAS representatives during the Umno general assembly. According to Zahid, the rally was not intended to be political. He assigned Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh to coordinate with PAS for the event, which would initially take place at the state level before expanding to a national rally.

The Umno leader made these remarks while delivering his final speech at the party's general assembly. Additionally, Zahid discussed former Prime Minister Najib Razak's petition for a pardon of his convictions related to the 1MDB scandal. He expressed hope that the application would be reviewed at the forthcoming Federal Territories Pardons Board meeting. Notably, the board had previously postponed the hearing of Najib's application to a later date.
