UAE rescue team locates 10 more missing in Nepal floods

A United Arab Emirates (UAE) search and rescue team has successfully located an additional ten individuals among those missing due to Nepal's recent devastating floods, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). This marks the UAE team's cumulative success of locating eighteen individuals since the inception of their mission.

The search operations have been concentrated in Rasuwa, the regions close to the Trishuli River, and neighboring disaster-stricken areas. The UAE team's efforts are bolstered by the utilization of advanced equipment, cutting-edge technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), aerial surveys, and three-dimensional mapping. These tools aid in pinpointing specific locations and hasten the process of finding the missing people.

Simultaneously with the arrival of the UAE's fifth humanitarian aid aircraft in Nepal, the team is on the ground. This aircraft was carrying essential supplies such as rescue boats, drones, power equipment and devices, as well as technical and logistical tools. These items have been handed over to Nepalese search and rescue teams to enhance their capabilities and fortify their operations in the affected regions.

Director of UAE relief operations, Hammoud Al Afari, emphasized that the UAE teams are working in tandem with the Nepalese authorities. He stressed that the search and rescue operations are being conducted according to field priorities and the available information. Al Afari also mentioned that the UAE is providing essential supplies and equipment to Nepalese teams to further bolster their capacity to continue their search efforts and reach the affected areas.

Al Afari highlighted that these actions demonstrate the UAE's time-honored tradition of swiftly responding to disasters, providing aid to affected countries and communities, and delivering the necessary humanitarian, relief, and technical support to minimize the impact of disasters.
