Two suspected gang members shot dead separately during clash with police in Dandora, City Park

Two suspected gang members were fatally shot by police in Nairobi's Dandora and City Park, according to reports. This follows intensified efforts by law enforcement to combat crime in the city. On Friday, September 11, 2026, at around 11:30 PM, a shooting erupted in Dandora after police responded to reports of a robbery near Councillor Opondo Road.

Police encountered three male suspects allegedly involved in the robbery. One suspect was fatally shot in the chest, while the other two allegedly fled towards the railway line. An Ekol Mini Special pistol bearing initials "GAZA" was recovered at the scene, along with three mobile phones and an identification card belonging to Eugene Karanja Mwangi, aged 29.

The victim's body was taken to the City Mortuary for preservation prior to a postmortem examination. No police officer was injured during this incident.

Later that same day, another violent encounter took place near City Park when a suspected robber was killed after allegedly threatening officers responding to a robbery report. Around 8 PM, police officers conducting a foot patrol in the City Park area received urgent calls for assistance. Officers arrived at the scene to find about three men armed with pangas engaged in a robbery of members of the public.

The gang fled upon seeing the police, leaving behind a woman who was reportedly held hostage. The woman was unharmed. A confrontation ensued between the officers and the fleeing suspects, resulting in one suspect being fatally injured while attempting to attack an officer. Police recovered a sharp knife at the scene and documented the incident.

The body was taken to the City Mortuary for identification and postmortem examination. Officers from Gigiri Sub-County are investigating the incident, including the events leading up to the fatal shooting.
