Twins CF Byron Buxton will have arthroscopic hip surgery and miss the rest of the season

The Minnesota Twins have announced that outfielder Byron Buxton will undergo hip surgery in the near future, according to reports from Aaron Gleeman. The 32-year-old is expected to be ready for the 2027 spring training, though the possibility of an MLB lockout could provide additional time for his recovery. Despite this setback, Buxton continues to make an impact on the team, having earned his third All-Star selection of his career, appeared in 93 games, and hit .254/.319/.511 with 25 home runs across 408 plate appearances.

The Twins are currently in third place in the American League Central standings, six games behind first place, but they are also 4.5 games away from the final AL Wild Card spot.
