Terrorists Plant Explosive Devices At New Bussa General Hospital

In Minna, the security situation in Borgu and Agwara local governments of Niger State has deteriorated after the discovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the New Bussa General Hospital. This alarming incident has left patients and their relatives in a state of panic, as they were present at the hospital to visit their admitted loved ones. Upon noticing the dangerous substance, these individuals promptly alerted a hospital security guard, who subsequently reported the discovery to the local security team.

The bomb disposal unit of the police was promptly deployed to the scene, and after thorough investigation, they confirmed the substance to be an IED. The explosive device was subsequently detonated, and its remains were taken to the police station for further examination. Following this incident, soldiers and policemen have been stationed at the hospital and its surroundings to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

The State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident to the news outlet. According to Abiodun, information was received about the suspected IED being planted by an unknown individual within the hospital premises. The Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operatives were immediately dispatched to the area, rendered the IED harmless, thoroughly searched the premises, and handed over the device to the authorities for further action. Abiodun assured that the situation has been brought under control and normalcy has been restored.

The ongoing attacks by bandits and terrorists in Borgu and Agwara have resulted in the abduction of more than 500 villagers and the loss of 20 lives. To counteract the rising threats, the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, deployed a rescue team to the state three weeks ago, aiming to rescue the abducted individuals and put an end to the violent acts.
