Solheim Cup resumes with Europe and US tied, Korda and Corpuz seeking a 6th straight win

The Solheim Cup found itself in an uncertain position after day one of the competition, as Europe and the United States were tied at 4-4. For the first time in the competition's history, both sessions ended in draws. A dramatic finale came down to the final putt on the 18th hole, with Europe's Carlota Ciganda holing a long-range shot in sunny conditions to secure a share of the victory.

The afternoon's fourballs saw Europe take an early lead, with Charley Hull and Lottie Wood birding five of the first six holes. However, the United States' Yealimi Noh and Angel Yin bounced back, thanks to Hull's inconsistent putting. Wood, playing her first Solheim Cup at 22, gained the upper hand with an impressive eagle on the par-five 10th.

Later, Noh nearly achieved a hole-in-one on the par-three 15th, narrowly missing out on the feat. In the deciding 18th, Woad's miss allowed Noh to secure the match for the US. Veteran Hull expressed her fatigue after playing 36 holes on the opening day. The US combination of Megan Khang and Alison Lee dominated their match against France's Celine Boutier and Nanna Koerstz Madsen, marking Khang's unbeaten Solheim Cup streak at nine, tied for the second-longest ever.

In the second match, Europe's Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud held off a late fightback from Allisen Corpuz and Auston Kim with a 2&1 win. The final fourball match ended in a tie after Korda and Lauren Coughlin found bunkers and rough while Ciganda and Julia Lopez Ramirez found the green. Ciganda made an improbable half to secure the win for Europe.

Korda led the charge for the US in the morning foursomes, defeating Hull and Wood 4&3, a record fifth consecutive Solheim Cup victory together.
