‘Slow Horses’ Season 6 Is ‘Darker and Heavier,’ but Gary Oldman Says It Packs the Same Old Punch

Season 6 of the popular Apple TV spy series, "Slow Horses," is set to be a darker and heavier installment, with the characters grappling with the consequences of a plot to destabilize the entire nation. This season marks the first time without longtime executive producer Will Smith, but director and executive producer Adam Randall, who is returning for Season 6, expresses that the transition has been seamless due to a team of creative producers who have remained consistent throughout the series.

The tone of Season 6 is darker than previous seasons, both visually and thematically, influenced by the emotional weight of the characters and their personal struggles. Adam Randall, who was involved in shaping the season from the outset, aimed to create a visually distinct look through the use of anamorphic lenses and a unique film emulation, as well as explore the deeper emotional states of the characters, such as River's grief and Catherine's alcoholism.

Returning actress Rosalind Eleazar shared her enjoyment of exploring Louisa's complex relationships with the other women in the series, while Christopher Chung, who plays Roddy Ho, revealed that the character is taking life more seriously in Season 6.
