Sindh PA will reject any move by NA to approve new provinces: Murad

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has warned that the National Assembly will face rejection from the Sindh Assembly if it attempts to approve new provinces or administrative units in the region. Speaking to the media during a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi, Governor Nihal Hashmi and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of taking significant decisions through mutual consultation.

Governor Hashmi highlighted the guiding principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as the country's direction, while Shah stressed that any changes to provincial boundaries should be made through a constitutional amendment, requiring a two-thirds majority resolution. He noted that while everyone has the freedom to express their opinions in a democracy, the Constitution lays out the specific process for altering provincial boundaries.

Regarding the National Finance Commission Award, Shah confirmed that an agreement with the federal government was reached in June, and the NFC Award would continue. He also stressed unity as the first principle set out by Quaid-e-Azam and called for all decisions concerning the country to be made through mutual consultation. When asked about the Mir Raza murder case, Shah stated that the Sindh government had not been involved in the past and would not interfere in the future, urging the identification of any person responsible for wrongdoing.
