‘Show evidence if you have any’ — PRP dismisses Shehu Buba terrorism allegations

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has urged Nigerians to present evidence supporting allegations of terrorism against Shehu Buba, the lawmaker representing Bauchi South Senatorial District. This call was made by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, in a statement released on Friday.

PRP maintains its conviction that the allegations against Senator Buba are part of a concerted effort to tarnish his image through false statements and malicious intent. The party cited Section 127(c) of the Electoral Act, which imposes penalties for publishing false information aimed at harming a candidate's electoral prospects.

According to PRP, these baseless accusations must cease, and anyone claiming to possess evidence of criminal activity against Senator Buba should submit it to the relevant authorities. The party expressed concern that Buba's opponents and detractors may feel threatened by his growing popularity, prompting them to spread unfounded and defamatory falsehoods.

These allegations came into the spotlight five days after Senator Buba refuted fresh accusations linking him to banditry. He described the viral videos and claims circulating on social media as part of a pervasive disinformation campaign and character assassination orchestrated against him.
