Saudi Arabia shuts down pipeline as Houthis seize island, opening new Iran war front

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry announced that its crucial East-West oil pipeline was targeted by drones launched from Iran. The kingdom has decided not to respond at this time, in accordance with a request made by Iraq's prime minister. Iraq's government applauded Saudi Arabia's decision to refrain from retaliation, condemning any assault that jeopardizes the nation's security. In response, Iraq immediately ordered the closure of the Shalamcheh border crossing between Iraq and Iran as a precautionary measure. According to two security sources, an extensive operation is being conducted to pursue the perpetrators of the attack on Saudi Arabia.

On Friday, Riyadh reported that its vital East-West pipeline suffered two explosions, causing damage in southern Lebanon's Ali Al Taher ridge and the village of al-Qantara. Al Mayadeen and Al Jazeera also reported Israel striking in the areas of Zibqin and Al Mansouri, while the Lebanese state-run National News Agency stated that two strikes occurred in the towns of Nabatieh al-Fawqa and the outskirts of Kfar Rumman.

A senior Iranian security and political source claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump is attempting to restart talks between the two countries. The source pointed out that this effort comes despite Trump's threats and intimidating rhetoric toward Iran.
