Sanusi, Mahdzir set to meet over possible Pas-Umno cooperation

Sungai Petani: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is set to meet with state Umno leaders to explore potential cooperation between the two parties. Sanusi, who also serves as Kedah Pas deputy commissioner, revealed that his office is coordinating a suitable date for the discussion. The Kedah Pas leadership has given approval for an initial meeting with former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid from Umno, with Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah accompanying him.

Mahdzir, who serves as Kedah Umno liaison chairman, had previously expressed his desire to meet Sanusi to discuss potential collaboration between Umno and Pas in the state. Sanusi emphasized the importance of the initial meeting in understanding Umno's intentions before proceeding with further negotiations. He suggested that the talks could potentially involve discussions about seat allocations, but stressed that any decisions should consider the national political landscape rather than focusing solely on the situation in individual states.

Sanusi acknowledged that negotiations in certain states, such as Melaka, would require a broader national perspective to ensure effective adjustments if necessary. He reiterated that the decision would be conveyed to the states by central leadership, and he would comply with it. For now, the meeting is intended to be an initial discussion, and Sanusi is open to whatever topics may arise.
