Samsung Preparing to Launch Its First Ever Clip-On Galaxy Earbuds

Samsung is reportedly developing its first clip-on wireless earbuds called the Galaxy Buds On, as evidenced by leaked graphics showing several innovative features. Initially discovered in April under the name Galaxy Buds Able, the device carries the SM-U600 model number, diverging from Samsung's typical SM-R naming convention for Galaxy Buds products. Recent design vectors from SammyGuru indicate the earbuds will launch under the Galaxy Buds On moniker.

The leaked images depict a black clip-on design that encircles the ear, as opposed to sealing the ear canal like traditional in-ear earbuds. This open-ear configuration allows users to maintain situational awareness, although external noise may impede audio clarity. To counteract this, Samsung may implement automatic volume adjustment, increasing sound levels in noisy environments such as airports or train stations and then reducing it when conditions become quieter.

The earbuds are also anticipated to incorporate head gesture controls, similar to those introduced with the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro. Specific commands have yet to be disclosed, but such gestures may be utilized for playback or call controls. Additionally, voice commands are reportedly supported, enabling users to commence voice memos or activate Gemini and Bixby without needing to retrieve their phone.

Another leaked feature is sleep detection, which would allow the earbuds to identify when the wearer has fallen asleep and automatically pause any audio playing. This feature would prevent music, podcasts, or other audio from continuing throughout the night. However, the official launch details, including the Galaxy Buds On's final name, specifications, and release date, remain undisclosed.
