Roads Minister commends Upper West contractor for consistently staying ahead of schedule
Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has commended a contractor from the Upper West Region, Astee Construction Limited for consistently completing road projects ahead of schedule and voluntarily supporting adjoining communities.
The Bono East Regional Minister, Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, recently visited ongoing and completed projects in the Nkoranza North District of Bono East Region. During his tour, he commended the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Member of Parliament (MP) for their role in completing new classroom blocks at two local schools, Sikaa Presby Basic School and Kronkompe D/A Basic School. These projects, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund, were aimed at enhancing teaching and learning in the district.
At Sikaa Presby Basic School, the school had previously suffered from inadequate infrastructure, with the dilapidated three-classroom block posing numerous challenges for both pupils and teachers. The classrooms were affected by leaking roofs during the rainy season and extreme heat during the dry season, which led to absenteeism among students.
The newly completed three-unit classroom block is set to significantly improve academic performance and the overall well-being of pupils and teachers by providing a conducive learning environment.
Similarly, at Kronkompe D/A Basic School, the old classroom block had been abandoned and left without a roof. Consequently, the students had to sit under trees before the completion of the new six-unit classroom block. The Headmistress of the school, Judith Afusaa-Kwarteng, expressed her gratitude to the DCE and MP for their efforts in completing the project. She is confident that this improvement in facilities will encourage regular attendance among students and facilitate effective teaching and learning.
