Rivers ADC says police, local security committee disrupted its meeting, arrested members

Tension has arisen in the Isiokpo community of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State after an alleged attack on members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The incident involved the ADC House of Assembly candidate for the area, Hon. Jeffrey Wobodo, who was seen wounded in a viral video. Wobodo had organized a consultative meeting in Isiokpo ahead of his campaign, but the meeting was reportedly interrupted by a local vigilante group and Nigeria Police personnel, as reported by the Daily Post.

Three party members - Mr Confidence Amadi, Mr Chikezie Justice, and Mr Isaiah Thomas - were arrested during the incident. In the viral video, it is alleged that some attendees of the disrupted meeting sustained injuries and had their mobile phones taken away. The source of the conflict remains unclear, but it may be related to reports of cultism in the area.
