'Remove us if we are no longer needed', says Tok Mat

Umno, a key component of Malaysia's unity government, has stated it will remain in the coalition until the end of its term, according to deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. The party is committed to the agreement made when the government was established and does not wish to cause political instability. Mohamad indicated that Umno respects the decision of its coalition partners, adding that if they believe the party is no longer needed, they should remove Umno.

This stance was in response to social media critics demanding Umno's withdrawal, not directed at the government. Some of these critics may not fully comprehend the reasons behind the government's formation or Umno's role. Umno's presence in the government is essential as it was formed to administer the country together and maintain stability.

Earlier, party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi warned against removing Umno in his winding-up speech, urging any such action to be preceded by a new mandate from voters or a no-confidence vote in the Dewan Rakyat.
