Reform receives second £36m donation in two days as crypto investor matches record

Reform UK has received a second £36 million donation in as many days, as cryptocurrency investor Christopher Harborne announced he has matched a record-breaking £36 million donation. The Thailand-based entrepreneur stated his competitive nature had prompted the donation, which aims to support a party ready for government. The combined £72 million from these two donations surpasses the total received by all UK political parties in the previous year.

Harborne's donation is not without controversy. Reform leader Nigel Farage is currently under investigation by the parliamentary standards commissioner over a £5 million cash gift. The investigation concerns whether Farage should have declared this gift in accordance with parliamentary standards. Farage maintains that the donation was unrelated to his parliamentary or political activities and was therefore not required to be registered.
