Police arrest Sabah man on suspicion of murdering mother in Tambunan

KOTA KINABALU, September 12 — Police have apprehended a 31-year-old man in connection with the murder of his 56-year-old mother in Tambunan. Keningau district police chief Supt Erwansyah Abdul Basir informed that the authorities were first informed of the incident at around 2pm and subsequently located the suspect. He revealed that the victim succumbed to injuries sustained from a sharp object, leaving the scene.

Villagers apprehended the suspect at a hut in Kampung Sutung, Tambunan, before the police took charge. The suspect was subsequently led to the Tambunan police station where he was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department from the Keningau district police headquarters. Erwansyah mentioned that the investigation team and forensic experts had examined the crime scene and seized several items that may be relevant to the case.

The victim's body has been taken to the hospital for a post-mortem examination and the investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code. He urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the case.
