Nigeria has lost a statesman, ADC Chair mourns Bamanga Tukur

Senator David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, mourned the death of former Governor of Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. In a statement released via his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, Mark described the loss of the esteemed statesman as a significant blow to Nigeria. The former Senate President highlighted Tukur's extensive contributions to Nigeria's political, administrative, and economic development over several decades.

Tukur served as Governor of Gongola State, held the position of Minister of Industries, and later led the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Mark emphasized Tukur's dedication to the nation as a businessman and international figure, beyond his political activities. He reflected on Tukur's remarkable journey through public service, business, and politics, noting that his counsel and experience would be deeply missed.

The loss of Tukur extends beyond his family and the people of Adamawa State, affecting Nigeria as a whole. Mark commiserated with the Tukur family, the government, and the people of Adamawa State, along with Tukur's political associates, expressing prayers for Allah's forgiveness for Tukur's shortcomings, his eternal rest, and the family's strength to cope with the loss.
