NIA raids 10 locations across Jammu & Kashmir in LeT-linked terror conspiracy case

In a series of searches conducted on Saturday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) targeted ten locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based handlers of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and their local support network. The locations were spread across Kupwara, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla and Sopore.

The NIA registered the case initially at Zakoora police station in Srinagar and later under Section 23 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. The investigation commenced following the arrest of an OGW linked to LeT during the early hours of March 31, 2026, where he was found in possession of a hand grenade and live ammunition.

Further probing led to the arrest of several Pakistani nationals allegedly connected to the conspiracy, aiding investigators in identifying members of the suspected local support network. Sources suggest that the LeT handlers collaborated with local associates for communication, movement and concealment of infiltrated terrorists, while also providing shelter, conducting reconnaissance, and facilitating logistical requirements.

The NIA is scrutinizing the financial trail, communication channels, movements of the accused, and the source and supply chain of arms and explosives. The agency has seized incriminating material and is examining it alongside other evidence. The NIA pledges to continue efforts to identify all individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy and ascertain their roles.

Additional legal actions, such as arrests and recoveries, may ensue based on the investigation's outcome.
