New round of peace talks could take place in early October — Budanov

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Presidential Office, disclosed on September 12 that a new round of trilateral peace negotiations involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia might occur in October. Speaking to reporters at the Yalta European Strategy meeting in Kyiv, Budanov expressed that preparations were underway for this potential trilateral format discussion.

However, he refrained from disclosing the precise location. This announcement comes after the United States intensified its diplomatic efforts to revive peace talks. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on September 9 that recent discussions held by U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Kyiv and Moscow had been meaningful.

Witkoff and Kushner met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and European partners in Kyiv on September 6 and subsequently conversed with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow the following day. In response, Zelensky affirmed Ukraine's readiness to resume trilateral negotiations with the U.S. and Russia, with the aim of concluding the conflict.

Additionally, he announced that the parties had agreed to conduct a subsequent meeting involving representatives from Ukraine, the U.S., and European nations.
