Nepal Qualify For 2027 ODI Asia Cup After Beating UAE By 44 Runs In ACC Premier Cup Final

Kuala Lumpur, Sep 12: Nepal have secured their place in the 2027 ODI Asia Cup following a 44-run victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ACC Men's Premier Cup Final. Nepal claimed the Premier Cup for the second time, as opener Aasif Sheikh scored a century, which was followed by strong bowling performances. This marks Nepal's second appearance in the Asia Cup, having participated in the 2023 edition.

The 2027 tournament will be held in Bangladesh. Nepal posted a formidable total of 313/9 in their 50 overs against UAE. Aasif Sheikh was the standout batsman, scoring 102 runs off 106 balls, along with eight fours and four sixes. Nepal's innings began strongly with Aasif and Arjun Kumal's 97-run partnership before Kumal was run out for 43.

Aasif then partnered with Rohit Paudel for 68 runs, and Rohit Paudel contributed with an impressive 40. Basir Ahamad added 52 runs off 38 balls, hitting four sixes and three fours. Nepal's bowlers, including Karan KC (3/49), made crucial contributions to the victory. In reply, UAE collapsed early, losing 3 wickets for 56 in 8.3 overs.

Rahul Chopra scored a century, while Sohaib Khan, Tanish Suri, and Harpreet Singh contributed valuable runs. Karan KC was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 49 runs.
