Munoz warns JDT against costly errors before Buriram showdown

Johor Darul Ta zim (JDT) began their Super League season strongly, earning a 15-point lead at the top of the standings after five matches. They secured a 3-0 victory over Negri Sembilan at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, with goals from Shahab Zahedi, Bergson Da Silva, and Marcos Guilherme. However, coach Xisco Munoz cautioned against complacency ahead of their upcoming Asian Champions League Elite match against Buriram United.

Munoz emphasized that the challenge posed by the Thai team will be much greater than the one they faced against Negri. He stressed the importance of avoiding mistakes, especially in set pieces and during transitions, as Buriram only needs a slight opportunity to score. The coach also highlighted the need for improved defensive discipline, pointing out that Negri's two counter-attacking chances demonstrated the risks of playing a high defensive line.

Despite these concerns, Munoz noted that the team has shown progress in counter-pressing and defensive structure under his leadership. He urged individual players to be more cautious in defensive moments, as any lapses could lead to opportunities for opponents. Munoz reminded his team that every improvement in counter-pressing leads to a more compact formation and better center-back performance, as they are consistently playing high up the pitch.
